The Ironman – Charity Event

Yellow Jersey is delighted to have been able to sponsor its very own Account Executive, Henry, as he undertook the Ironman 70.3 in Zell Am See, Austria this weekend to raise money for The Goed Life – a non-profit organisation set up by his best friend, which aims to support adults with learning difficulties, integrating them into society through vocational programmes.
The Ironman 70.3 is a triathlon consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km cycle and 21.1km run in and around the idyllic Zell Am See lake and is the first event Henry and his friends have undertaken to fundraise and spread The Goed Life’s name.
The Goed Life, based in Northampton, is named after his friend’s brother, Sam Goedhuis, 27, who himself has Down’s Syndrome and works in the Beehive café – one of the projects established by The Goed Life. His family set up the organisation after seeing the vast improvement in Sam’s happiness, communication and general sense of well-being thanks to being involved in part–time work, and believed they were well placed to support similarly disadvantaged adults.
Money raised from this event fundraising in particular is primarily aimed at purchasing a van for the HortiHub programme – a programme to enable handicapped adults to help the elderly with their gardening.
The Goed Life, despite only being founded in December of last year, has big plans for the future!
